There is a wide range of meaningful professional development opportunities throughout the year for staff at Northgate High School. All of these sessions are logged with our online performance management programme, BlueSky, automatically so that individuals have a clear record of the training that they have taken part in throughout the year.
For support staff, this is a combination of statutory training, such as that relating to health and safety, and that tailored to people’s specific job role.
For teaching staff, we have formal, long-term programmes for staff at particular points in their career. We currently run programmes for trainee teachers, Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs), Recently Qualified Teachers (RQTs), aspiring Middle Leaders and Senior Leaders and aspiring Headteachers.
There are also less formal Teaching and Learning workshops for everyone all the way through the year. Teachers sign up for sessions that interest them and tie in with their own professional interests the most. These sessions are linked to our Key Teaching and Learning Principles and our School Improvement Plan.
