We are looking forward to Northgate's British Sign Language week, starting on Monday, 22nd April. During the BSL week, all students from Years 7 to 13 will learn aspects of signing in registration and practice what they have learnt. The week will culminate with a competition for students to make a video demonstrating what they have learnt and the importance of BSL at Northgate. Applications Reopened Due to popular demand, we have increased the number of classes and subjects we are offering for students from September 2024. This means we have reopened our applications for a short period of time for students that may now be able to choose the subjects they wished to do. We are delighted to announce that we will be able to offer a range of languages and art-based qualifications, these include: Three performing arts options: Drama, Dance and Music Four Art based subjects: Art, Photography, Textiles and Graphics Two Languages: German and Spanish. As mentioned in a previous social media post, Sophia a Year 13 Art student in 2023 was nominated for a national A level prize hosted by The Art's Society, based in London. Sophia, also the winner of The Anna Airy Award, was the overall winner with an overwhelming majority of the public vote. For this, her work will be promoted in several publications, and she will receive the sum of £500. We would like to thank all of those in our Northgate Community who voted for her painting of Frank Bright. This serves to highlight the strong role of the Northgate community coming together to support our own. The painting has been given on loan to the school and is currently exhibited in the library.
