Data Protection

The school collects and holds information on pupils and students in order to support their teaching and learning; to monitor and report on progress; to provide appropriate pastoral care, and to assess how well the school as a whole is doing.

From time to time schools are required to pass on some of this data to the Local Authority, the Department for Education and to agencies prescribed by law, such as the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority, Ofsted, the Learning and Skills Council, the Department of Health and to Primary Care Trusts.

This information includes contact details, national curriculum assessment results, attendance information, characteristics such as ethnic group, special educational needs and any other relevant information.

Data held about pupils and students is only used for specific purposes allowed by law.
